The Douglas Coffee Drug Unit (DCDU)
A Joint effort by the City of Douglas Police Department & The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office
Under the direct supervision of Captain Dean Willard, The Douglas Coffee Drug Unit (DCDU) is a joint narcotics task force formed through a partnership between the Douglas Police Department and the Coffee County Sheriff's Office. Operating from the Coffee County Sheriff's Office, the DCDU combines the personnel, resources, and expertise of both agencies into a unified force dedicated to combating illegal drug activity throughout Coffee County.
The mission of the DCDU is to aggressively investigate and dismantle drug trafficking organizations, disrupt the distribution of illegal narcotics, remove repeat offenders from the community, and improve the overall safety and quality of life for the citizens of Douglas and Coffee County. Through intelligence driven investigations, search warrants, undercover operations, and collaborative enforcement efforts, the unit targets individuals responsible for distributing dangerous drugs that threaten local neighborhoods.
Since its creation, the DCDU has made an immediate and measurable impact. During its first week of operation, agents seized more than 91 grams of methamphetamine, two pounds of marijuana, six firearms, and $11,069 in drug related cash, resulting in multiple arrests. The unit has continued to build on that success with numerous large scale investigations, including major search warrant operations that have removed significant quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription narcotics, firearms, and other criminal proceeds from the streets of Coffee County.
The Douglas Coffee Drug Unit works closely with local, state, and federal law enforcement partners to identify, investigate, and prosecute those involved in narcotics trafficking and related criminal activity. By combining the strengths of both the Douglas Police Department and the Coffee County Sheriff's Office, the DCDU serves as a force multiplier in the fight against illegal drugs while remaining committed to protecting the communities it serves through professionalism, accountability, and proactive law enforcement.
