DCDU ARREST Douglas Man on Drug Trafficking Charge

PRESTON FIELDS, 53, DOUGLAS, GA

COFFEE COUNTY, GA — Agents of the Douglas Coffee Drug Unit have arrested Preston Pernell Fields, 53, of Douglas, following a drug investigation that resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of suspected methamphetamine, illegal THC products, and cash.

On May 27, 2026, Agents of the Douglas Coffee Drug Unit encountered Fields during a law enforcement operation in Coffee County. During the investigation, agents detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle Fields was operating. A subsequent investigation and search led to the discovery of approximately 6.38 ounces of suspected methamphetamine, THC gummy products, and $1,823.58 in U.S. currency believed to be associated with illegal drug activity.

Fields was taken into custody and transported to the Coffee County Jail without further incident.

As a result of the investigation, Fields was charged with:

  • Trafficking Methamphetamine

  • Additional drug-related violations under the Georgia Controlled Substances Act

The investigation remains active, and additional charges may be forthcoming pending laboratory analysis and continued review of the evidence.

The Douglas Coffee Drug Unit remains committed to aggressively targeting the distribution of illegal narcotics throughout Coffee County and will continue working to identify, investigate, and prosecute individuals involved in drug trafficking and other criminal activity.

All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
