Man arrested after making terroristic threats due to cigarette prices.
According to eyewitness accounts, a male suspect entered the store and began arguing with staff about the price of cigarettes. Witnesses stated that the man exited the store twice before returning a third time wielding a weapon. During this final entry, the suspect reportedly threatened store employees, stating: “I’m gonna shoot both of y’all.”
Coffee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Wanted Sex Offender for Failing to Register
Goodwin was taken into custody on July 23, 2025, and is currently being held at the Coffee County Pre-Trial Detention Center. He is charged with a felony violation for failing to register as a sex offender and for providing false or incomplete information as required by Georgia state law.

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG CHARGES
On July 6, 2025, a traffic stop conducted by a Coffee County Sheriff's Deputy resulted in the arrest of Robert Dean Turner, age 62, for suspected possession of methamphetamine.
BATTERY CHARGES FILED AGAINST 23-YEAR
On the evening of July 8, 2025, deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on West Highway 32 in reference to a reported domestic dispute. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the female victim, who displayed visible injuries consistent with battery.
DOMESTIC DISPUTE LEADS TO ONE ARREST
On July 4, 2025, deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an assault at a residence on Lagens Way. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the complainant who alleged that she was physically assaulted during a confrontation at the location.
Isolated Incident occurred in the Coffee County Jail
On July 7, 2025, an isolated incident occurred within the Coffee County Jail involving a single individual who is currently receiving medical care. Due to the sensitive nature of the case, Sheriff Fred Cole has requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to conduct a full and independent investigation.

Sheriff’s Office Cracks Down on Illegal Hemp Sales
In response to growing community complaints, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office launched an enforcement effort targeting local convenience stores accused of selling illegal hemp products—including sales to minors under 21.
TWO WEEK COUNTY WIDE DRUG CRACKDOWN YIELDS MULTIPLE ARRESTS
In a successful two-week operation targeting illegal drug activity across Coffee County, agents of the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit made multiple arrests. This effort, made possible through the collaboration of the City of Douglas Police Department, the Coffee County Sheriff's Office, and the Drug Unit, continues to demonstrate effective results in combating the presence and distribution of illegal narcotics in the community.
ARREST MADE IN FIREARM THEFT INVESTIGATION
The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested and charged Shane Lawson Tanner Jr. in connection with the theft of firearms and currency from a local residence.
Drug Investigation Leads to Arrest of Glen Merrill
Following a month-long investigation, Drug Agents with the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit executed a search warrant on June 24, 2025. Detectives located a quantity of suspected methamphetamine and digital scales, consistent with drug distribution.
SEARCH WARRANT LEADS TO POSSESSION ARREST
During the execution of the warrant, deputies located a quantity of suspected Methamphetamine and suspected Marijuana within the residence. As a result of the findings, Joseph Keith Darsey, also known as "Skeeter," was arrested at the scene.
UPDATED: Suspect(s) Identified and Charged After Highway 158 Fight
The investigation identified Pedro Adolfo Vasquez as one of the participants in the altercation. Based on evidence collected and witness statements, Vasquez was charged with the following offenses under Georgia law:

Disturbance on Tara Road Leads to Arrest for Disorderly Conduct
On June 24, 2025, deputies from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance call at a residence on Tara Road regarding a subject allegedly brandishing a weapon at a work crew.
JUAN DELGADO, 28 OF DOUGLAS ARRESTED FOR RAPE
During subsequent interviews, detectives interviewed Delgado, who admitted to touching both girls when they were approximately 12 years old with the intent of arousing them. Delgado also confessed to raping one of the girls when she was just over 12 years old.
Chief Ashley Wilson arrested
On the evening of Wednesday, June 18th, just prior to midnight, the Sheriff's Office received a report concerning an officer from the Nicholls Police Department allegedly involved in an inappropriate relationship with a minor. An immediate response by a detective initiated an initial assessment, which determined that the allegations warranted a full-scale investigation. Sheriff Fred Cole subsequently contacted the GBI to ensure an impartial and thorough inquiry.
Cocaine Discovered on Suspect After Arrest for Suspended License
On June 12, 2025, a Douglas Police Officer conducted a traffic stop which led to the arrest of Clemon Carter, Jr. for driving with a suspended license, a violation of Georgia Code O.C.G.A. 40 5 121.
Douglas man arrested on Multiple Drug Trafficking Charges
On June 16, 2025, at approximately 6:11 PM, agents with the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit conducted a traffic stop on a Buick LaCrosse traveling on GA Highway 158 East near Bowens Mill Road. The driver, David Reshard Burgess, was the subject of an active drug investigation.
As a result of the investigation, David Burgess was arrested and charged with the following offenses under Georgia law:
•Trafficking Methamphetamine (OCGA 16 13 31)
•Possession with Intent to Distribute MDMA (OCGA 16 13 30)
•Possession with Intent to Distribute Powder Cocaine (OCGA 16 13 30)
•Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine (OCGA 16 13 30)
DOUGLAS MAN ARRESTED AFTER VIOLATING COURT ORDER
The investigation led to the arrest of 44-year-old Christopher Jordan for violating a Family Violence Order.
Jordan was located walking near a business on Highway 158 West. Initially, he denied involvement in the incident but later admitted to a verbal altercation stemming from a personal dispute.
