Absconded Sex Offender Arrested in Coffee County

The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office arrested Linda Faye Steedley on Saturday for Failure to Register as a sex offender. Steedley was previously listed as absconded from Jeff Davis County.

Under Georgia law (OCGA 42-1-12), registered sex offenders must notify the sheriff’s office in their new county at least 72 hours before moving. Steedley failed to register her move to Coffee County as required.

She was taken into custody by the CCSO Sex Offender Unit and served with an active warrant. The case remains under investigation.
