Disturbance on Tara Road Leads to Arrest for Disorderly Conduct

On June 24, 2025, deputies from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance call at a residence on Tara Road regarding a subject allegedly brandishing a weapon at a work crew.
According to multiple individuals at the scene stated that a male subject approached them in a vehicle, yelling and using profane language. Witnesses also stated that the individual exited his vehicle, then re-entered it and retrieved an object believed to be a firearm, which he reportedly pointed at them.
Deputies arrived and cleared that the individual was 57-year-old John Kay Troupe, who admitted to yelling and cursing at the work crew. Troupe denied pointing a firearm and stated that he displayed a set of brass knuckles in response to feeling threatened due to being outnumbered.
After an investigation and statements from those involved, John Troupe was arrested and charged under O.C.G.A. 16-11-39, Disorderly Conduct. He was transported to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office without further incident.
