Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit Continues Aggressive Effortsin Ongoing Fight Against Drug Activity

The Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit—a recently merged task force combining the resources of the Coffee County Sheriff's Office and the City of Douglas Drug Unit as of May 1, 2025—is actively targeting illegal drug activity across Coffee County.

In recent enforcement actions, officers arrested Clarlenta Taylor and Taikousky Smith as part of a detailed investigation involving controlled drug buys and surveillance. A search warrant led to the seizure of methamphetamine, fentanyl, ecstasy, crack cocaine, prescription opioids, firearms, digital scales, and over $5,000 in cash. Both suspects face felony charges, including possession with intent to distribute and possession of firearms by a convicted felon.

In a separate case on May 13, 2025, officers served a warrant on Craig Shiver, who had reportedly fled from probation supervision. At the scene, officers also located Timothy Lott, who was found to have outstanding warrants as well. Both were arrested without incident.

These cases highlight the unit’s aggressive and coordinated approach to removing dangerous drugs and repeat offenders from local communities. The Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit continues to encourage residents to report suspicious activity as part of its broader mission to keep Coffee County safe.
