Arrests made in May’s HWY 221 Shooting

Takevion Strozier, 23, Douglas, GA

On May 4, 2025, deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff's Office responded to Coffee Regional Medical Center after two individuals arrived with gunshot wounds. The individuals, later identified as 23 year-old Takevion Strozier and a 15-year-old juvenile, were initially believed to be victims of a drive-by shooting on Highway 221 North.

A thorough investigation by the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, which included scene processing, multiple witness interviews, and forensic evidence analysis, revealed that Strozier and the juvenile were not victims, but rather the primary aggressors in the incident. Evidence indicated that the two initiated gunfire during an altercation on the roadway and that those in the other vehicle returned fire, striking both Strozier and the juvenile.

Following the investigation, Takevion Strozier was arrested and charged under O.C.G.A. 16-10-20 for making false statements and writings, a felony offense. He was also charged with tampering with evidence, in violation of O.C.G.A. 16-10-94. The 15-year-old juvenile was charged under O.C.G.A. 16-5-21 with three counts of aggravated assault, a felony, and under O.C.G.A. 16-11-132 for possession of a firearm by a person under 18 years of age.
