STOLEN PROPERTY RETURNED. SUSPECT ARRESTED
Kathryn Spikes 35 of Douglas
On Friday February 28, 2025 a call into the 911 center in regards to a missing EZ-Go golf cart. The owners of the golf cart informed deputies that their daughter called and informed them that a red Ford F-150 was parked in their yard that she didn’t recognize. When the owners returned home they found the Ford F-150 had been left and their EZ-Go golf Cart.
Deputies arrived and found that the F-150 had an out of state tag still registered to the previous owner and towed it to the CCSO as evidence in their investigation. With the rise of property thefts in the county, the Coffee County Sheriff’s office has taken an aggressive approach to recovering property in a timely manner; in using social media and the CCSO mobile app. Within twenty four hours, deputies had identified the owner of the F-150 as Kathryn Spikes 35 of Douglas. Consequently, Kathryn was detained and charged with Theft by Taking. She was taken to the Coffee County Sheriff’s office where she was released on a $10,000 bond.
The EZ-Go Golf Cart was returned to the owners on Saturday afternoon.
Sheriff Cole advises residents to ensure their property is properly secured, as this is one of those times of the year for theft to increase as many residents will make large item purchases during this time of the year.
On February 28, 2025, a report was made to the 911 center regarding a missing EZ-Go golf cart. The golf cart owners informed deputies that they had been notified that a suspicious red Ford F-150 had been parked in their yard. Upon returning home, the owners discovered that while the Ford F-150 remained, their EZ-Go golf cart was missing.
Deputies responded to the scene and noted that the F-150 had an out-of-state license plate still tied to its previous owner. The vehicle was subsequently towed to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) for evidence in the ongoing investigation. Due to a rise in property thefts within the county, the CCSO has adopted a proactive strategy for timely recovery of stolen items, utilizing social media and the CCSO mobile application. Within 16 hours, deputies were able to identify the owner of the F-150 as 35-year-old Kathryn Spikes from Douglas. As a result, Kathryn was apprehended and charged with Theft by Taking. She was taken to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office and later released on a $10,000 bond.
The EZ-Go golf cart was returned to its owners on Saturday afternoon.
