Coffee County, GA — In late September, Detectives with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Unit declared Clarence W. Mixon, a registered sex offender, absconded after being notified that Mixon had vacated his residence and fled the state.

A coordinated investigation revealed that Mixon had fled the State of Georgia and was residing at a location in South Texas. Coffee County detectives immediately alerted law enforcement authorities in Nueces County, Texas, providing detailed information regarding Mixon’s status as a fugitive and his violations of Georgia’s sex offender laws.

He was transported to the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office, where he remains in custody awaiting extradition back to Coffee County.

Upon his return, Mixon will face charges for violating Georgia’s sex offender registry requirements.

Mixon was previously convicted of Child Molestation in 2004 in Lowndes County, Georgia.

Sheriff Fred Cole issued the following statement:

“We have friends everywhere; if you run, we will find you and you will go to jail. Thank you to the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service in helping apprehend this sex offender.”
