Man charged for Child Sexual Abuse
On April 17, 2026, a Deputy with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to meet with a complainant at the Coffee County Law Enforcement Center regarding a report of alleged criminal activity involving Rubin Jewell. During the report, information was received alleging that Jewell had created and possessed digitally altered pornographic images using artificial intelligence technology. The images were reported to depict an adult and a minor.
A digital device believed to contain evidentiary material was voluntarily surrendered to investigators and collected as evidence. The device has been submitted for further forensic examination.
Deputies subsequently made contact with Rubin Jewell at a residence on Pecan Street. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail for an interview with investigators.
The case was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division, where Detectives found sufficient evidence to charge Jewell with Possession or Control of Material Depicting a Minor Engaged in Sexually Explicit Conduct.
If found guilty, Jewell faces significant prison time, substantial fines, and mandatory registration as a sex offender as required by Georgia law.
This remains an active case, and additional charges may be forthcoming pending further forensic analysis.
Sheriff Fred Cole emphasized that the misuse of technology to exploit minors will not be tolerated, stating that whether images are captured or artificially created, the criminal intent and harm remain the same, and those responsible will be held fully accountable.
The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office takes crimes involving the exploitation of minors and the misuse of emerging technology with the utmost seriousness. Those responsible for such actions will be held accountable under the law.
