Traffic Stop Results in DUI Arrest and Drug Seizure

Nelson Perez Carrillo, 20, Douglas, Ga

On September 28, 2025, at approximately 3:37 a.m., deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office observed a 2008 Nissan Sentra exemplifying erratic behavior on New Forest HWY. Deputies conducted a welfare check on the driver, identified as 20 year old Nelson Perez Carrillo.

During the stop, Carrillo displayed signs of impairment, and field sobriety tests were administered. Deputies determined Carrillo was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

While conducting a search of the vehicle deputies located a crystal-like substance suspected to be methamphetamine. The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit was notified, and the case was turned over to detectives for further investigation. Carrillo was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Coffee County Pre-Trial Detention Center, where he was charged with Driving Under the Influence and Possession of Methamphetamine.
