Coffee County, GA – Tuesday night was a busy evening for Patrol Deputies, the Drug Interdiction and Criminal Enforcement Unit, known as DICE, and the Douglas Coffee Drug Unit, known as DCDU, as multiple arrests were made on charges ranging from warrant executions to drug and firearm offenses.

Members of DCDU initiated a traffic stop on 30 year old Antion Dwayne Byrd Junior of Douglas. Byrde fled the scene on foot, resulting in a brief chase. He was quickly apprehended and is now facing charges of Fleeing and Eluding.

Later in the evening, Patrol Deputies conducted a traffic stop on 21 year old Chance Spires. Due to circumstances observed during the stop, DCDU agents were requested. Agents recovered a stolen AK47 rifle and approximately two ounces of Marijuana. Spires was arrested and faces charges of Possession of a Schedule I drug with intent to distribute and Possession of a stolen firearm. In the State of Georgia, possession of stolen property is a felony offense under O.C.G.A. 16 8 7.

DICE Agents conducted a separate traffic stop on 41 year old Brandy McCurry. DCDU agents were requested at the scene and located a quantity of Methamphetamine inside the vehicle. McCurry was taken into custody and faces charges of Possession of Methamphetamine.

Patrol Deputies also stopped 51 year old John Hursey. In accordance with Hursey’s probation conditions, DICE Agents conducted a standard search of the vehicle and recovered a quantity of Methamphetamine. Hursey was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine.

Deputies were later dispatched to the area of Parkway Road regarding a suspicious person. Deputies and DICE Agents identified the individual as 25 year old Dalton Leon Lauramore, a wanted fugitive out of Florida. Lauramore was immediately taken into custody and transported to the Coffee County Jail as a fugitive from justice.

In the early morning hours, a call was received from residents at the Econolodge reporting an individual attempting to steal property. DCDU agents arrived and identified 47 year old Brian Fuller as the suspect. Fuller was found in possession of a quantity of Methamphetamine and arrested and charged with possession of meth.

Sheriff Cole remains committed to his promise to rid this county of crime and to eradicate drugs from our streets. He stated at the beginning of the week “Whatever you do for work after this long Thanksgiving break, do it wholeheartedly... Unless you're a drug dealer in this county - then I'd suggest calling a moving company.”
