Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

COFFEE COUNTY, GA — On June 4, 2025, deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office conducted a routine traffic stop on James Terrel Wright after observing him unlawfully operating a Multipurpose Off-Highway Vehicle on a public roadway, in violation of Georgia law (O.C.G.A. 40-6-362).

During the stop, deputies observed drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle, which prompted a probable cause search. As a result of the search, a quantity of crack cocaine was discovered in Wright’s possession.

Wright was immediately taken into custody and transported to the Coffee County Pre-Trial Detention Center, where he remains in custody. He is charged with Possession of Cocaine under O.C.G.A. 16-13-30.
