COFFEE COUNTY MAN ARRESTED FOR AGGRAVATED ASSAULT FOLLOWING VEHICLE INCIDENT

Travis Yawn, 26, Douglas, GA

On the evening of April 29, 2025, deputies from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to an assault report at a mobile home park in Douglas, Georgia. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with an individual who reported that a vehicle had rapidly accelerated toward him while he was standing in a yard, raising immediate concerns for his personal safety.

The suspect, later identified as 26-year-old Travis Yawn, was located shortly afterward at a nearby residence. During questioning, Yawn admitted to deputies that he had attempted to strike the victim with his vehicle following a domestic altercation. Based on the evidence and his own statements, Yawn was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. Under Georgia law, aggravated assault is a felony and is characterized by attempts to cause serious injury with a deadly weapon or dangerous object, such as a vehicle. Convictions for aggravated assault carry severe legal consequences, including significant prison time and fines. 

Yawn was transported to the Coffee County Pre-Trial Detention Center, where he is currently being held.
