Sheriff Cole’s 1st 100 days.

Sheriff Fred Cole has marked 100 days leading the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, expressing it as an honor to serve this remarkable team. Since taking charge on January 1st at 12:01 AM, there has been continuous action, and he remains dedicated to fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to him by the residents.

In the first 100 days, the Criminal Investigation Division and Drug Unit conducted two major operations in Green Acres and Oak Park, resulting in 13 arrests for various charges, including felonies and drug crimes. They worked with the FBI on “Operation Cripple Business,” which led to 37 indictments and 17 felony arrests in the county. The office executed 630 warrants and captured 6 sex offenders. The CID, Drug Unit, and Sex Offender unit have made significant arrests, contributing to 1,012 individuals being processed through the Detention Center.

Celebrating these early successes, Sheriff Cole is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Douglas Police Department, set to begin on May 1st. This alliance will empower several officers to enforce laws throughout the county, extending beyond Douglas city limits. The Sheriff’s Office will continue its efforts to combat crime and work diligently to keep the community safe.
