Chief Deputy Dunlap is charged with the responsibility and general management of the Sheriff's Office and acts as the department head in the absence of the Sheriff. Chief Deputy Dunlap works directly under the Sheriff and oversees the daily overall operations of the Sheriff's Office, which includes the Administration Division, Patrol Division, Criminal Investigation Division, Narcotics Division, Jail Division and Court Security Division. Chief Deputy Marcus Dunlap was appointed Chief Deputy by Sheriff Fred T. Cole in 2025. Prior to that, he served as Captain for the Sheriff's Office. Chief Deputy Dunlap has been in law enforcement for 30 years beginning in 1995 and has over 10 years’ experience in training law enforcement tactics and firearms.
